Hello everyone.
I’m looking for recommendations for hikes near Seattle. I usually work evenings and would like to find places within a 1 hour drive from Seattle, and a 1 to 2 hour hike.
Anyone interested in joining me for a weekday morning hike/walk?
Thanks.
Michael

Re: weekday mornings near Seattle?
Sun, August 6, 2006 - 2:45 AMOne hour from Seattle? . . . Try the Bridal Veil Falls Trail just before the Index turnoff on SR2. Can be turned into a more adventurous hike to Lake Serene. (Trailhead is on the Index Road immediately east of the bridge over the Skykomish River and the turnoff for the town of Index).
Just a a couple of miles beyond the Index turnoff (past the Mountain Chalet Espesso) is the Heybrook Lookout Trail (large gravel siding on the left of hwy 2 just as you pass the sign announcing you are entering the Mt Baker/Snoqualimie National Forest). This short hike takes you to a Fire Lookout Tower which you can ascend.
An hour and a half, at the base of Cowboy Mountain (this side of Stevens Pass just into the hairpin turn at the bottom) is the one and one half mile Tunnel Creek Hike up to a couple of nice alpine lakes. This is one of my favorite hikes.

Sun, August 6, 2006 - 2:55 AMps: Michael, I'd love to join you for morning hikes once my schedule settles down a bit. In September. I'll have days off in the middle of the week then.

Sun, August 6, 2006 - 10:42 AMThank you both for the information. I’ll research the web sites and get some topo maps, then off to the woods.
When I have something planned, I’ll post it here in case anyone wants to join in.
Yet the Storm Princess – I’d enjoy the company. -

Re: weekday mornings near Seattle?
Mon, August 14, 2006 - 7:47 PMI'm going to start small with the west tiger 3. My schedule has been odd this past week, but I hope to get to REI for maps in a day or two, then head up early next week.

Re: weekday mornings near Seattle?
Fri, September 1, 2006 - 7:53 PMI finally made it out to Tiger mt, did a short loop (1 hour) to check out my new daypack, boots and see how my knees are working. Everything seems fine, so I’ll try a longer one next week. I’ll post it when I know my work schedule; it’ll be in the morning though.
